Walkathon 2023
"Spring Into Action" -- JA Vargas Walkathon
The Walkathon aims to get students moving in a fun-filled family event with prizes, music, and more. It is our main fundraiser of the year, and we hope to fundraise over 50% of next year's PTA budget, which goes towards after-school enrichment, assemblies, classroom supplies, community events, and much more.

We Need Volunteers!
There are many opportunities to help out to make our first in-person Walkathon a success, from tracking students' laps to running concessions. Please consider volunteering for a slot through Konstella at http://bit.ly/WalkathonVolunteer2023 .
Event Details
The event has free entry!
Students walk laps on the Soccer Field, both before and after school.
Face Painting, Photobooth, DJ and other fun activities will be on-site.
Kona Shave Ice, taco truck, and PTA Concessions (pizza and baked goods) are available for purchase.
All students participating must have a completed PTA participation waiver on file. Please return the attached form to your student's teacher or the front office.
Schedule
1:30PM-2:30PM In-School Kickoff
1st-5th grade students begin walking before dismissal. Kinders walk after dismissal.
2:35/2:40PM Grades 1-5 Dismissal
Students return to teachers for dismissal, if not staying for Walkathon.
3PM Course Reopens, Events Start
Walkathon course reopens for more walking, with other fun activities on campus.
6PM Walkathon Ends
Goals and Rewards
Students will receive lap/distance-based prizes during the event, based on their grade level.
For each lap goal and fundraising goal reached, a student earns an entry into the walkathon raffle, with prizes from our in-kind donors like the SF Zoo, CuriOdyssey, Top Golf, etc.
Classroom Rewards: based on class average and grade level
The top 3 classes with the highest number of laps will receive a movie party.
The top 3 classes that raises the most funds will receive an ice cream voucher.
School-Wide Reward: If the school walks 2000 laps or more, then Mr. Taylor will be slimed!
